Case Study: Netflix's Lady Chatterley’s Lover

We played a pivotal role in ensuring authentic disability representation in Lady Chatterley’s Lover, a Netflix and Sony (3000 Pictures) feature starring Emma Corrin and Jack O’Connell. Working alongside the Academy Award and BAFTA-winning Blueprint Pictures, our Lead Disability and Access Consultant, Dan Edge, collaborated with production teams to create an inclusive and accessible environment for actor Matthew Duckett, who portrayed Clifford Chatterley.

  • Accessibility & On-Set Support: Conducting access audits, coordinating set modifications, and ensuring a fully accessible environment for the lead Disabled actor.
  • Movement Coaching & Historical Accuracy: Advising on the use of antique wheelchairs, working with movement directors, and shaping the physicality of the character.
  • Inclusive Intimacy Coordination: Partnering with leading intimacy coordinator Ita O'Brien (Sex Education, I May Destroy You) to ensure accessibility in intimate scenes.

The Impact:
With international festival screenings and a global Netflix release, this project set a new standard for authentic disability representation in major period film productions.

For Champions, a film featuring 12 Disabled actors, Making Space provided essential training to prepare them for the press circuit, ensuring they felt confident in interviews and red carpet events. Additionally, we trained Woody Harrelson, Kaitlin Olson and Cheech Marin on disability and accessibility related messaging and narratives to highlight during the press tour.
